Yellowbird Wellbeing is seeking experienced Support Workers to join their passionate team in a casual capacity. Reporting to the Team Leader - Disability Support, your role as a Support Worker will be to provide person-centred and individualised support to Yellowbird Wellbeing’s clients while embodying the organisation's mission, vision and values.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The role of a Support Worker is to work with people with a disability in achieving individual goals and aspirations. This occurs through the provision of high quality support and care that addresses individual needs and enhances participant’s independence, ability, community participation and quality of life.

To succeed in this role you will work in a multidisciplinary approach of support work. You’ll be a dedicated and motivated individual who is committed to seeing their clients achieve and surpass their individual goals, maximising dignity, personal growth and independence.

Specifically, the role will see you:
Provide high-quality support to our young male participant through person-centred programs designed to maximise his quality of life

We are seeking a male & female support workers. Are you a support worker with initiative, have a sense of fun and able to motivate people to achieve their goals? Are you looking for a role working within an energetic team supporting people to become more independent in their lives and local community? To pursue activities of choice in the community and develop independent life skills.

We are seeking motivated support workers who can think outside the box, are innovative and flexible in their approaches to reducing the barriers to community life that are experienced by people with disability. Your role is critical in the long term community inclusion.

Hours: We are looking for people who are flexible in their work hours and are available to cover shifts from day through evening, overnight and weekends with the ability to work at least 15-20 hours per week (Weekdays) negotiable and also casual pool candidates.

  • Promote programs that encourage a healthy lifestyle in terms of physical & psychological fitness, nutrition
  • Create opportunities for clients to become as independent as possible and allowing them to be a member of mainstream community life
  • Supporting clients to realise their goals and interests in their personal life, their community, their work, learning and employment goals and their leisure activities
  • Complete regular reporting [case notes and incident reports] and identify any changes in our client’s circumstances or needs, acting on these changes as required
  • Follow relevant Work, Health & Safety procedures to ensure both individual and client safety

Yellowbird Wellbeing has a strong commitment to providing our employees with evidence–based, responsive professional development.

It is compulsory for all new employees to complete Yellowbird Wellbeing, Orientation and Induction Program On the Yellowbird Wellbeing Learning Management Platform.

Each employee must also ensure that learning and development, as outlined in the Annual Performance Appraisal, including knowledge of current Yellowbird Wellbeing policies and procedures, is maintained.

SELECTION CRITERIA
You will be a dedicated experienced support worker with exposure to supporting people of all ages in areas such as personal care, health and well-being, active community participation, behaviour management and emotional regulation, and skill development.

  • Reasonable physical fitness, health and resilience to fulfil the physical demands of this role
  • An understanding and commitment to WHS and NDIS Practice Standards or willingness to learn
  • Knowledge and ability to implement contemporary approaches such as person-centred planning or active support
  • Availability and flexibility to work a flexible roster
  • Computer literate and independent and able to use MS Word, google g suite, online client management system, Deputy, Employment Hero and be comfortable with data entry
  • Demonstrated capacity to collaborate as part of a diverse team and also work autonomously and remotely
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and use initiative
  • Strong communication skills and demonstrated flexibility in methods of alternative and augmentative communication, particularly being able to use active listening skills.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE ESSENTIALS:

  • Certificate III or IV in Disability or other relevant
  • Mental Health Experience
  • Youth Experience
  • Older persons experience
  • good communication and team skills
  • commitment to consumer driven services
  • knowledge of community resources and employment support
  • current Working with Children Check
  • current cleared Police check (under 6mths) or new NDIS Worker Chech from 1/2/2021
  • access to a comprehensively insured and registered vehicle (evidence required)
  • drivers licence (evidence required including driving record)
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Right to Work in Australia
  • Completion certificate for the NDIS Worker Orientation Module ‘Quality, Safety and You’ (The module takes appx 90 minutes. You can save, exit and return to the module at any time. Once completed, you will receive a certificate of completion).
  • Completion of the ‘New Worker – NDIS Induction Modules’ e-learning program’ accessible here (Completion of the 8 modules will take approximately 20 - 45 minutes each).
  • Completion certificate for Infection prevention & control for COVID-19, completed before commencing employment https://covid-19training.gov.au/
  • Epilepsy essentials and medication management are also a requirement.
