Yellowbird provides Support Services at a number of worksites, as well as in the community and in the homes of our clients. Some Yellowbird services operate on a 24/7 basis. NDIS participants and/or their guardians/representatives have the choice and control to choose who their service provider is and what worker they will or will not work with from that service provider. As a small business, we do not have the economy of scale that larger NDIS providers have. As participants can leave at any time, or choose not to work with a specific worker.
I acknowledge, that casual employment is NOT covered by the unfair dismissal laws. This is because the casual contract is a contract for a specified time, task or season.

Employees employed under a casual contract of employment for a specified period of time, a specified task, or the duration of a specified season who are dismissed at the end of the period, task or season. The terms of a casual contract shall apply on each and every occasion that you are engaged by the Employer to perform services ie. the contract commences at the start of a shift and the contract ends and the completion of that shift.
I acknowledge, at any time, a participant or their guardian/representative has the right to choose an alternative worker and/or a provider. As a result I may be removed from the roster. There may be no alternative shifts to offer.

Any PPT or PFT position would not have the same flexibility, and parameters that are provided under casual employment and would include contract periods of 3, 6, 9 or 12 month durations with additional clauses to review and/or end contracts to enable the direct response to NDIS partiicpant choice and control and planned or unplanned events such as hospitalisation and/or death of an NDIS participant.
